Welcome to the Anglican Parish of  Toowong. We are an Anglican church located in the Brisbane suburb of Toowong. St Thomas' is a heritage listed Church and was consecrated in 1877. We have a modern Parish Centre with facilities where we meet after our services for morning tea.

History

In 1996 a special anniversary service was held to mark the 130th anniversary of the first service in the original St Thomas' Church at Curlew Street.

These web pages celebrate over 100 years of Anglican ministry in the Toowong area.

The Church is open from for quiet prayer and reflection

Mon      9.30am to 2.00pm

Tues      9.30am to 5.00pm

Wed      9.30am to 12.00pm & 2pm to 5pm

Thurs    12.00pm to 2.00pm

Fri         12.00pm to 4.00pm

 

Parish Council

The main purpose of Parish Council is as a policy board in conjunction with the Rector responsible for conducting ministry within this framework.

Parish Council at St Thomas' comprises of :
* two people's wardens and one rector's warden,

* two Synod Representatives,

* two Parish Nominators and
* council members elected at the AGM.

 

Wardens
There are three Wardens who are responsible for administering the financial and property affairs of the Parish. The People's Wardens are two qualified people who represent the congregation and are elected by the Annual General Meeting, and the Rector's Warden is a person appointed by the Rector.

 

Parish Nominators
Parish Nominators are responsible for selecting a new Rector when vacancies occour.

 

Synod Representatives
The Synod Representatives are elected at the AGM and are appointed for a term of 3 years.

 

To be a menber of Parish Council candidates need to be active, regular members of St Thomas' Parish community.
