Baptism

Baptism is the sacrament of initiation into the Christian Church. It is a joyful time of welcome, thanksgiving and belonging. It celebrates the gift of life and of God's love made know in Jesus Christ.

At St Thomas' baptisms take place as part of our regular Sunday worship or as part of a family service.

At least one month's notice is normally required, however Baptisms at short notice are some times necessary. If the candidate is a child he or she will be sponsored by parents and Godparents. Sponsors need to be over 18 years of age and baptised Christians, and they need to be able to sincerely make a declaration of faith and commitment on behalf of the candidate.

There are no set fees for Baptism, however it is customary for the parents to make a thank you offering to the Church. This may be put in the collection plate or given to the priest.

For further information please contact the Rector or Parish Office.
